Oregano Oil and Your Emotional Health

MUCH HAS been written about oregano oil’s ability to boost your immune system, fight candida, SIBO, Lyme disease and colds and flu – but did you know oregano oil has some intriguing emotional and energetic uses too?  Oil of oregano can purify your body, but it’s also said to bring purity and clarity to your mind and spirit.

Pure oregano oil, like Zane Hellas’s 100% Pure Undiluted Oregano Oil , is an essential oil.  Essential oils are naturally occurring, aromatic compounds that are found in the roots, flowers, seeds, leaves, barks and stems of plants. They give plants their distinctive aromas and offer therapeutic benefits to humans and animals.

Essential oils are used in aromatherapy – the art (and science) of using the extracted essential oils of plants to harmonize the human body, mind and spirit.

French chemist and perfumer Rene-Maurice Gattefosse coined the term “aromatherapie” back in 1937.  Today, there are dozens of essential oils in existence, with some of the most popular being lavender, tea tree and eucalyptus.  Each essential oil offers unique properties – chamomile is known for being very calming, peppermint is said to be energizing.  And oregano oil, is said to bring joy, calm and purity to both the mind and the body.

When worn on the head during the night, oregano is said to promote psychic dreams.  Oregano even appears in the Bible, as one of the healing plants God bestowed upon us humans.  Ancient Greeks named the herb “Joy of the mountains”.  Therapeutically, essential oil of oregano is said to relax the mind, balance the emotions, eliminate emotional fatigue, declutter “stuck energy”, promote clear thought and bring happiness, joy and equilibrium.

Oregano oil may even balance your hormones.  A study in 1998 found that oregano is one of the only botanicals that binds to progesterone receptors and increases its release. According to a study conducted by researchers at Aeron Biotechnology, this means it may help increase the production of the hormone progesterone, Scientists discovered that oregano is one of the main herbs that binds to intracellular receptors for progesterone and increases its release. Progesterone plays a role in several functions in the body, from promoting normal sleep patterns to normalizing blood sugar levels. Although oregano impacts progesterone, it has no impact on other hormones in the body. The findings were published in the March 1998 issue of “Proceedings of the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine.”
